Herati Live @ Hot Buttered Club Tokyo, Japan
|
Herati is a song inspired by the music of the Afghan Rubab. This was the band's first piece written and performed on Rubab. The instrument was very rare and difficult to find when the band first began exploring it in 2007. But after working with the help of Haji Taj from Peshawar, Pakistan, the band were able to add a Khurram Rubab to their instrument line up. This is the first track written using that Rubab. It integrates one of the band's first Central Asian instruments the Persian Santoor played by Megumi

Hu Lu Si & Kiyo Hime Live @ Space Orbit Tokyo
|
Two tracks composed and arranged by Megumi Rain.
Hu Lu Si was written by Megumi Rain after exploring the haunting and sentimental tones of the Hu Lu Si, an ethnic Thai instrument from China. The song evokes memories of a distant home and is one of the band's most beloved tracks. Megumi Rain - Hu Lu Si Kelly Rain - Ghaval Drum Saburou Kinebuchi - Percussion Kiyo Hime is an Edo period Shinai Shamisen classical song. It tells teh story of a love struck girl who falls in love with a monk. When he cannot stay with her she pursues him and turns into a water dragon while chacing him across a river. He hides from her under a temple bell. When she cannot reach him, she breathes fire at the bell and kills him. Shinai songs are known for their ill fated love relationships. This song comes from Megumi's long career of study as a Shinai Shamisen performer. Megumi Rain - Shinai Shamisen Kelly Rain - Turkish Frame Drum Saburou Kinebuchi - Percussion |
